About Us

Before you decide if you want to work with us, we'd like to fill in a few gaps, so take a moment, and find out what we're all about.

We tell it like it is. If you are trying to achieve the impossible, or want to do something in a way that won't work, we won't take your money by doing something we know will fail. But we will tell you what we think will work, what you could achieve and how it could be done.

We believe people deserve to be treated fairly, with respect and honesty. We don't help organisations to deliberately treat their people badly, unfairly or dishonestly. Some time ago, a company asked us to develop a presentation specifically designed to deceive their staff. We've never worked with them since, or drunk a pint of their beer!

We make it our business to keep up-to-date with the latest research in the field of learning and the brain. We do the leg work for you, so we can pass on the benefit of what we learn directly to you. It's quite a time consuming and costly process, but we're convinced you'll agree the benefits are worth it.

We believe that learning should be fun. We're committed to find engaging, fresh ways to make it easier for people to improve their skills and learn new ways of doing things. In fact it's our passion! We're writing this on the way to one of our favourite conferences: Learning and the Brain, held twice a year in Boston.

We do it in half the time other consultants take. We implement what we learn at conferences and courses, and continually reassess and hone our skills. This means we improve our effectiveness which reduces the time it takes for you to see results and improves the results you get.

All our work is tailored to meet your specific needs. We even alter our workshops to suit the participants at each event.

You may wonder why we do this…Years ago Nancy met Eric Jensen on one of the courses he runs on Brain Based Learning. In those days, when Nancy ran a course, she was used to working with a partner and a small group of about 10. So she was disappointed to find 70 other people on this 5-day course.

How was Eric going to ensure we all got the help we needed? By using all kinds of techniques that made learning easier, quicker and much more fun. After that course, we had to rethink and redesign everything we did. We also reduced the length of every course by 50%. By condensing our courses our results improved – brilliant!

Since then we've been on many courses and participated in and attended numerous conferences, all with the aim of discovering more about learning and brain research. At Vinehouse we use this research to make your life easier and more enriching. And because our courses produce tangible and measurable results, you'll find your learning investments become more cost effective.

Nancy will also contact you when she comes across specific research that she thinks may be particularly useful for you and your situation.

Consultants

We've worked hard to build our reputation. That's why we only work in partnerships with consultants who consistently invest in their own development. Each consultant is an expert in their own field and we never, ever, ask them to work in an area where they don't have expertise and a proven track record.

A few words from Charlie - our Business Manager

Nancy has over 20 years experience. You may think she looks too young to have that much experience, but with a little help from an air-brush anything is possible!
Nancy is an experienced consultant, speaker and author. Before becoming a consultant, she did have some real jobs. Working mainly in the electronics field, she worked up through the ranks to director level. She's run large departments, recruited lots of people and tackled many real-life business issues. Take a look at these case studies if you would like some examples. Nancy was self employed for eight years before starting Vinehouse in 1996.

In her former life, she sang with a rock band and later, a jazz band. Now Nancy sings with choirs and loves obscure music from the early sixteenth century. Don't tell anyone I told you, but Nancy's also a self-confessed Star Trek fan, and I've even got the pictures to prove it…beam me up Scottie!

About Charlie

Charlie used to work as a PA to the MD of one of our clients. When they reorganised, she phoned and asked me for a job. After a meeting over lunch she agreed to join Vinehouse. Charlie's family support West Ham, although her passion is red wine and good food. She's always happy to share her excellent recipes, and I'm delighted to say I have finally managed to wheedle her recipe for Lime Cheesecake from her, which is one of my husband's favourites. Charlie never, ever throws any shoes away and is our official shopping consultant. Her great expertise (apart from running the company of course) is the ability to find fantastic restaurants, wherever we are in the world! She's got three lovely children and her husband is a builder, which is why her kitchen isn't finished yet.

If you've read all this and we still sound like the sort of people you would like to work with, please contact us and let us know how we can help.
